Fat freezing, or cryolipolysis, is a nonsurgical fat reduction treatment usually done by an aesthetician. The procedure freezes fat cells, which kills and eliminates them over time from the patient’s body. In addition, the treatment needs to be repeated about every three months in each area of the body the patient seeks reduction. Diet and exercise must be maintained to achieve any noticeable results.
After the procedure, patients have often reported considerable pain, ongoing bruising, and even expanding and hardening in the treatment area. Since fat freezing doesn’t involve sculpting the contour of the area treated, the risk of developing an undesirable indentation or shelf is possible.
