General Questions

VASER Liposuction is top-of-the-line advanced, ultrasound assisted technology. With Vaser, the fat cells are dislodged from healthy tissue prior to the insertion of a cannula, making removal easier and less painful than traditional liposuction.  This also makes Vaser more precise as we’re able to better sculpt and contour the body, with less bruising, swelling, and downtime.

Yes! It’s actually more effective than traditional liposuction since there’s more control over how the dissolved fat is removed. With traditional liposuction, fat must be manually broken up but Vaser Liposuction helps dissolve fat for an easier and more customized body contour. Our 360 liposuction procedure includes five different areas – upper abdomen, lower abdomen, hip rolls (combining the hips and love handles), flanks, and lower back.

No, we do not do tummy tucks, but we do offer liposuction on the abdomen that provides great results for patients and using VASER also provides great skin retraction. Liposuction provides comparable results to a tummy tuck and is a less invasive approach to removing your fat and tightening your abdomen.

Vaser Liposuction is not meant to help cellulite.

All of our patients do great with the PRONOX has provided during the procedure, some are even up and chatting with us throughout their surgery. We do also provide our patients with the option for a prescribed sedative and narcotic to take beforehand. We also go in to the treatment areas with numbing fuid, doing absolutely everything in our power to make sure you’re safe and comfortable for the entire duration of the procedure.

The length of your procedure depends on the type of treatment you’re having done, the amount of areas treated, and amount of fat being removed. It can last between 45 minutes and 3-4 hours or more. As with any procedure, we take our time to do it right.

Our general rule of thumb is “If you can pinch it, we can take it.” Common areas include chin/neck, breasts, upper and lower back, love handles, stomach, arms, butt, and thighs

Unlike noninvasive methods like CoolSculpt, which require multiple sessions, Vaser Liposuction is typically just one treatment. Due to legal regulations, we are only able to take 5L of fat from the body, but this is usually enough for most people!

We can treat up to three different areas during your procedure, with the exception of the 360 procedure. Find out more about this from the doctor during your consultation.

Traditional liposuction uses a tool called a cannula to manually break up fat and vacuum it out. The manual movements required to break up fat can often be painful and leave significant bruising and swelling post-treatment. Since Vaser Liposuction utilizes ultrasound and a solution to break up fat, the fat removal is much easier, which leads to quicker recovery times and less downtime post-treatment.

Legally, we can take out up to 5L of fat, but the amount taken out is going to depend on your goals and number of areas treated.

Results from Vaser Liposuction can be permanent, yes. Since the fat cells are removed and not just frozen, your fat is out! However, to maintain your results, your lifestyle needs to support it. Having a healthy diet and exercise plan is going to ensure you enjoy your results for years.

Many patients have mentioned liposuction was what they needed to kickstart their weightloss journey, while others just needed help with some stubborn fat. We’ve been honored to see the joyful twinkly in patients’ eyes after they see their results. Don’t just take our word for it, check out some of the results our patients have had!

Vaser Liposuction Safety

Vaser Liposuction has been around since 2002, when Sound Surgical Technologies introduced it as an alternative to traditional liposuction. Vaser liposuction uses sound waves to loosen fat instead of relying on manually breaking it down with a cannula.

Compared to traditional liposuction, Vaser Liposuction is minimally invasive. We make small incisions to allow the fat to be vacuumed out, but these incisions are strategically placed to hide them after they heal. Once they heal, the incision marks are typically the size of a pencil eraser.

The procedures themselves are not painful. With the Pronox gas, numbing fluid, and optional sedative and narcotics, we have you covered! While there is some discomfort from the incisions and changes in your body, you may feel sore for a few weeks while your body heals and adjusts.

Since anesthesia is avoided, most of the common risks with surgery are avoided. However, some risks include swelling and bruising, and the possibility of infection since incisions are made. To reduce the risk of infection, we provide antibiotics throughout your course of treatment. Also, since we are using ultrasound and not forceful movements with the cannula to break up fat, bruising and swelling are minimalized.

Liposuction procedures have been around for decades now and the technology and methods have only improved. Vaser Liposuction is one of the greatest improvements to traditional liposuction because it reduces many of the common traditional liposuction risks. Since ultrasound is used to break down fat, forceful movements with the cannula are not required, which means downtime is minimized. You can read about some of the risks with Vaser Liposuction in the FAQ above.

Since we use Pronox gas, you will not be asleep, although we do offer a sedative. Most patients chat with us during the procedure and find they are quite comfortable.

Liposuction Requirements

You cannot ever be too big, however, there is a maximum amount of fat we are allowed to remove in one procedure, that we must abide to by law, and that is no more than 5 liters of fat.

As long as you are within 30% of a healthy body weight, you don’t have to lose weight before the procedure. However, we certainly recommend losing weight prior to the procedure so you’ll be even happier with the results!

Ideal candidates have a BMI of 30 or less, but that doesn’t disqualify you. If you have a BMI over 30, please schedule a free consultation to discuss your needs with the doctor.

Yes, you must be over 18, but with adult consent a minor may be considered for Vaser Liposuction.

We recommend being within 30% of a healthy weight before receiving Vaser Liposuction.

No. However, your doctor will decide at the time of your consult if blood work or clearance needs to be done if there are any concerns.

Post Procedure

We do not tend to see a lot of sagging skin, it varies from person to person, but we do know that VASER is also very great for skin retraction and elasticity, it even helps smooth out some scars.

While Vaser Liposuction isn’t designed to tighten skin like a skin lift, it will promote collagen production, which tightens up the skin!

We have many patients fly in for their procedures from out of state and we’re sure to see them for a brief follow-up before they takeoff back home to ensure everything is going well and safe for travel. We are always more than happy to assist you in making arrangements and finding accommodations for your visit. We also provide virtual follow ups to ensure you have the post-op care you need.

You will be required to wear your compression garment 24/7 for 6 weeks post-op. While results vary from person to person, our patients typically take about 2-3 days to rest and let the fluids drain, but they are typically back to work after that short period of time. You will be able to see the final results after a full 6 months.

Since fat isn’t as dense as muscle, a lot of fat can be removed but the scale may not budge much. Vaser Liposuction is not meant to be a weight loss procedure; it’s meant for body contouring. Many patients have been pleasantly surprised after comparing how they look to their weight. You’ll lose some inches and reduce clothing size, but we cannot predict how much weight you’ll lose. Vaser Liposuction can be a get jumpstart for weight loss, but is primarily meant to help you sculpt your dream body.

The size drop is going to depend on the amount of areas treated and how much fat we take out. You’ll likely lose a few inches and that may mean a few sizes.

Since Vaser Liposuction removes fat, it’s out for good! However, we recommend keeping a healthy diet and exercise regimen as part of your lifestyle since we permanently removed the fat cells from the area treated.

Yes. Since we removed the fat cells in the treated areas, fat is more likely to accumulate in other areas of the body.

After about 2 weeks, you can start working out again. Your doctor will provide you with their recommendations. You should start doing some light walking for about 45 minutes a day after your procedure to help with blood flow and healing.

Recovery FAQs

You should plan on keeping weight off your butt for 3-4 weeks after surgery. This allows blood flow to your butt so the newly implanted fat cells can thrive. You’ll also need to avoid strenuous activity for 3-4 weeks, but you’ll be encouraged to start light activity after your procedure to increase blood flow and speed up healing.

We will give you a full written recovery plan when you come in for the consult, and review it as well after your procedure.

Since natural breast enhancement is gentler than traditional breast enhancement using implants, scalpels, and scarring, recovery time is much quicker. You may feel a little sore and swollen, but this should subside within a few days and can take up to a few weeks. Swelling is natural after the procedure, so you will be given a compression garment to wear for 10-14 days.

We will give you a full written recovery plan when you come in for the consult, and review it as well after your procedure.

Most patients are back to their normal routine within 48 hours.

Results will be immediately noticeable, but final results can be seen after 6 months since the body will absorb some of the fat transfer.
