How to Lose Those Last Few Pounds Fast

Body Contouring, Weight Loss

You made it. Even after months, you managed to get rid of almost all your extra weight. Still, after losing 30, 40, or 50 pounds, it looks like your body won’t allow you to go any further. You’ve committed to your weight loss journey, but you still need to lose those last few pounds and fast.

To lose those stubborn 5 or 10 pounds even though you keep following your diet plan and exercise routine diligently seems impossible.

Weight loss plateau is a common issue and usually occurs after 6-8 months. It can be very frustrating and lead to weight regain. But there is no need to panic!

Acknowledge how far you’ve come and try a few things that might help you reach your ideal weight.

Why is losing the last few pounds so hard?

Losing weight is not an easy road, but people seem to agree that when you get close to your final goal, it gets even more challenging.

Initially, the new lifestyle changes in your physical activity and meal planning significantly impact your body. You start to lose weight fast.

The more your body adjusts to the new leaner, the more efficient it saves energy. You probably start to feel hungrier. The same heavy exercise routine, in the beginning, becomes easier to accomplish.

3 reasons why weight loss plateau might happen

Three reasons may explain weight loss plateau:

  • Metabolic rate drop
  • Increased appetite
  • Biological response for survival

1. Your metabolic rate drops as you get leaner

To maintain a bigger body, you need more calories. Your basal metabolic rate and energy expenditure at rest drop slightly, and you burn fewer calories once you lose weight. According to a recent study, this phenomenon is thought to have little influence on slowing down the weight loss process compared to appetite increase.

2. Appetite increases when you lose weight

According to the same study, dieters tend to eat an average of 100 additional calories a day per kilo lost. This can be over three times greater than the energy expenditure adjustment for the slowing metabolism. Feeling hungrier is a greater barrier to losing the last few pounds than your decreasing metabolic rate.

3. Your body naturally fights weight loss as a survival response

After a while, your body becomes inclined to preserve your weight “just in case”. It’s the natural survival response. Fat cells are the most important energy storage in your body.

When you shed weight, these adipocytes shrink, but the cells don’t disappear. As soon as you start eating a little bit more after a strict diet plan, they’re ready to stock up on fat again.

Things you can try to lose those last few pounds

You can try a few things to keep the scale moving.

Keep an eye on portion sizes

After a few months of assiduous meal planning and prepping, it’s easy to become less meticulous in measuring all your proteins, carbs, and fat. Many dieters get tired and start eating bigger portions or simply indulging in snacks more than they should.

Try to measure cups or keep track of your calorie intake with a food journal or a health app.

Have cheat days

Eating what you love with no portion control for a day or just one meal can be an excellent way to keep your motivation up and reward yourself after months of dieting. It can work well if you’re very disciplined in following your diet plan afterward.

Make sure you don’t get carried away by the binging! Although this method can boost your motivation, there is no consistent scientific evidence of its health benefits or the hunger hormone working more efficiently after a cheat meal.

Mind the quality of your sleep

If your sleep is poor, you’re more likely to crave sugar and fat and feel hungrier. It appears there is a link between sleep restriction and hunger hormone production.

Get at least 7-8 hours per night, work on a bed routine such as softer lights, no work, and no phones at least 30-60 minutes before bedtime to help you relax and doze off quickly.

Change your training routine

Add some cardio activities or switch to more high-intensity training, lift weights to increase your lean mass, and improve your metabolism to burn more calories. Muscle cells require more energy at rest than fat cells. Even trying a different sport can help. You need to trick your body into something it is not used to.

All these things can contribute to shedding final pounds, but it won’t happen overnight. Also, you might want to try a combination of lifestyle changes to see what works for you.

If you want more immediate and longer-term results, liposuction might be the solution you’re looking for.

How liposuction can help you reach your ultimate weight goal

Vaser liposuction effectively eliminates localized adipose tissue from certain body areas such as your belly, thighs, back, and chin.

Suppose you’ve implemented all the necessary adjustments, but you still can’t reach your idealized number on the scale. In that case, the physical removal of fat can be an optimal solution, especially if you’re after a better body contour that doesn’t automatically come with diet and crunches in the gym.

However, this is not an easy fix.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure. Therefore, you need to follow some steps to maximize its results during your post-op recovery. A healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet and physical activity is always key to obtain and maintain a healthy weight and wellbeing over time.

To evaluate if you are a good candidate for this treatment, you can book a consultation with our lipo doctors at Premier Liposuction.

Determination is good, and it is a huge driver when it comes to weight loss. But remember, your general physical and mental health always comes first. Ensure you celebrate your accomplishments and always set reachable weight goals.

Liposuction Requirements: Are You a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Liposuction, Weight Loss

As with many different lipo procedures, certain factors determine whether someone is a good candidate for liposuction or not.

Liposuction requirements vary on a whole host of factors, including your current weight, excess skin, and your overall health. During your consultation, your board-certified plastic surgeon will go over these factors with you to determine if you are a good candidate for liposuction.

Here are the top factors your surgeon or liposuction doctor will look at, what they will consider a risk factor, and what makes you a right fit for the procedure.

Who can get liposuction?

Liposuction is designed to sculpt bodies already within 30% of their ideal weight. While liposuction removes fat, it’s not suitable for removing significant amounts of fat.

Each surgeon has different specific criteria for patients to fulfill. The guidelines we share are general rules that most surgeons will follow, not all.

So if you’re in the middle of your weight loss journey, you may want to wait until your weight is within reach of your ideal physique.

Your surgeon will also check the skin in the area you would like to have treated. Candidates for liposuction need good skin elasticity and muscle tone. At Premier Liposuction, we use a skin tightening procedure technology called Renuvion that allows us to retract skin up to 60%.

What are the limitations of liposuction?

Liposuction is a popular treatment that can rid people of insecurities and create a more toned and defined body contour. However, like most things, it has its limitations.

Moreover, the procedure isn’t for everyone, especially those who want to lose a significant amount of weight.

Even if you qualify for liposuction, the results may not last forever. Treated areas are not immune from changing shape. If you gain weight, you might find the results of your procedure become less visible.

While liposuction permanently removes fat cells from your body, it can’t stop the remaining cells from gaining volume if your lifestyle changes.

What can I do to improve my chances of being approved for liposuction?

One of the most significant deciding factors in whether you qualify for liposuction is your weight history.

Your surgeon will likely ask you how your weight has fluctuated over the years and how long you have been at your current weight. Your surgeon may also ask you about your current diet and exercise routine to understand your overall health and wellbeing.

If you’re still on your weight loss journey, working toward reaching your goal is essential for optimal results. If you struggle to lose weight on your own, or if your weight has been stuck on the same number for a while, then working with a dietician or nutritionist might help give you the boost you need to reach your target.

Are there alternatives if I can’t have general anesthesia?

Many people can’t have a general anesthetic or don’t want to take any extra risks to get surgery. The good news is there are types of liposuction that allow you to have the procedure with local anesthesia.

Tumescent liposuction is an alternative to traditional lipo that only uses local anesthetic injections to numb the treated areas.

VASER liposuction, on the other hand, patients can avoid the risks associated with general anesthesia. Patients receive an oral medication beforehand to help you relax and local anesthesia to numb the treatment area.

Vaser lipo has a range of benefits, including shorter recovery times, lower risk of complications, and often a more affordable price tag.

Conversely, VASER has limits, too. The range of areas that lipo can treat simultaneously is more restricted with local sedation. You may find that you experience more discomfort immediately after the procedure than you would otherwise.

If I’m a suitable candidate, which areas can liposuction treat?

Common areas that patients ask to define include the stomach, hips, arms, and waist. Your chest, back, buttocks and thighs can all be treated, too, if considered suitable by your surgeon.

Your chin and neck can all be treated too, although these usually use slightly different technology to achieve results. You may find your surgeon recommends using ultrasound-assisted liposuction on these areas of your body where fat tends to be more stubborn.

Your doctor will look at the areas you would like to have treated and assess whether they would be suitable for the procedure. They will explain the kinds of results you may expect from the procedure and will go over how long it will take after the process to see the final results.

Are you a good candidate for liposuction?

Ultimately, liposuction is a good option for many people but not for everyone. The main factor that determines suitability is a patient’s weight and their overall health.

Furthermore, you will have to factor in where in your weight journey you reside. The elasticity of your skin and the tone of your muscles will also determine whether lipo is the correct procedure for you.

If it isn’t the right procedure for you, your surgeon may suggest a tummy tuck, body lift, or another type of excess skin removal surgery.

Does Fat Return after Liposuction? How to Maintain Results

Liposuction, Weight Loss

As you prepare to undergo liposuction, you may wonder how permanent the results will be. You may wonder, can the removed fat return after liposuction?

Liposuction results generally take around three months to become visible, but what happens after that? What if you struggle with gaining weight after liposuction? What if you’re still working on losing weight?

From healthy eating choices to which exercises to do regularly, learn how to maintain your liposuction results.

How do liposuction procedures work?

Liposuction works by inserting a small instrument called a cannula under your skin. The cannula is attached to a device that vacuums fat cells. Your surgeon will skillfully work on body contouring your shape by removing different amounts of fat in each targeted area.

Some procedures include re-injecting fat cells into different parts of your body. This is known as fat transfer.

Because of how the procedure works, the fat cells your surgeon removes cannot return. But unfortunately, that doesn’t mean your results will necessarily last forever. The remaining fat cells can still change shape, your skin will age, and your overall fitness level may also alter.

All of these factors will affect how the results of your procedure work as time goes on.

What results can I expect?

The exact results you can expect from liposuction will vary depending on your shape before the procedure and the treated areas. Vaser liposuction is not a weight loss surgery. Instead, look at it as a way of fine-tuning your ideal physique.

As a rule of thumb, you should expect to lose no more than 5 pounds during a procedure. In the end, the treated areas will lose volume and appear more toned.

Your plastic surgeon will discuss realistic results with you during your consultation before surgery and make sure you understand what to expect.

How long will the results last?

The length of time your results will remain will depend on your diet and exercise, how your weight fluctuates, and how your body ages. Ultimately, the longevity of your liposuction results will depend on a range of factors. Some of which you can control while others are out of your hands.

As you can tell, your choices determine some of these elements, and your genetics decides others.

Research found that 43% of patients had weight return after liposuction within two years. Now, that doesn’t mean the fat returned in the same places, but it shows you how easily you can let results slip.

To help you understand what it takes to maintain your lipo results, we’re going to focus on the factors you can control: your diet and exercise.

Which diet should you follow after lipo?

Incorporating more portions of fruits and vegetables into your daily food intake is crucial. Add in whole grains, lean meats, or meat alternatives. You can still enjoy indulgent foods, but keep a balance to maintain your new figure.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons advises that a balanced diet is critical.

If you struggle with your diet, it may be worthwhile having a consultation with a dietician. They will consider your lifestyle, your medical history, and any other dietary requirements to design meal plans to help you stay on track after surgery.

Which exercises are best after liposuction?

Toning the problem areas you had lipo on will benefit you because your results will be visible more quickly with the remaining fat cells covering them.

If you haven’t found the right exercise regimen for you just yet, start by building up some cardio exercise such as running or cycling. Gradually increase the frequency and intensity of your workouts over time. It’s about finding a routine that you’re able to stick with over time.

Once your liposuction doctors clear you to start exercising again after surgery, you will want to make exercising a pillar of your maintenance plan. If you already exercised regularly before: awesome! Keep it up, and you shouldn’t have any issues.

Maintaining your liposuction results

Getting liposuction is a commitment if you want the results to last in the long run. It’s also a procedure – like most cosmetic surgeries – that can’t be expected to look its best forever. Your body will continue to age, and your weight might fluctuate. These factors both affect how your liposuction results will look in the long run.

As we outlined above, staying active, exercising regularly, and eating a healthy balanced diet will help you maintain your ideal weight and stave off early signs of aging.

Does Fat Return after Liposuction?

To keep fat from returning after liposuction, maintain healthy food choices and exercise. This will allow you to get the most from your procedure.

As with any plastic surgery or liposuction procedure, you will need to take care of your body to achieve the best long-term results. Liposuction results last for years with a healthy lifestyle.

While lipo removes fat from specific areas of the body, it does not prevent relapse. Meaning you may gain weight in the same places again in the future if you don’t stay on track with your overall health.Learn more about maintaining your liposuction results. Desperate to Lose Weight Fast? 9 Ways to Drop Those Pounds Quickly (And Safely)

Weight Loss

Do you have an important event or reunion coming up? Are you getting that body out on the beach for the swimsuit season? Are you desperate to lose weight fast?

Dropping pounds quickly and safely may not be as scary as you think. And losing weight does more than just help your jeans fit better.

Losing weight can improve your blood pressure and cholesterol and keep your body free from diseases like diabetes and cancer. It can improve your energy and reduce your risk of depression. And everyday activities that used to be strenuous will quickly become less of a burden.

If you’re ready to lose weight, you’re not alone! Here are nine ways to start dropping those pounds quickly.

1. Cut Your Carbs

It’s no secret that foods with too many simple carbohydrates are bad for your body. It’s also no secret healthy eating and changing out your certain food intake can help overall.

Refined carbs don’t contain any redeeming qualities such as fiber, vitamins, and minerals. These include white bread, white rice, pastries, soda, and snacks.

Too many carbs can increase your risk of heart disease and diabetes. They can also cause serious swings in your blood sugar levels, which encourages overeating.

Consider replacing refined carbohydrates with whole grains. These are packed with vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin B and iron. Whole grains can also help you keep disease away.

Simple substitutions can help a lot. Consider, for example, swapping your white rice for brown rice. Or wake up to some whole wheat oatmeal instead of sugary cereal or a pastry.

You may be tempted to overdo it on the pasta or dessert at night. And you may be surprised at how easy weight loss is simply by keeping your portions smaller.

You can try using smaller plates for meals or avoiding going back for seconds unless it’s a special occasion. Your heart and your waistline will thank you.

2. Eat More Fruits and Veggies

Fruits and veggies are naturally low in fat and calories. They will fill you up without causing you to pack on the pounds. They are also rich in essential nutrients, including fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Some vitamins, like Vitamin D, can help you shed pounds by keeping your hormone levels in check.

If you’re not inclined to grab a celery stick or munch on some spinach, consider making healthy smoothies for breakfast or lunch. Use some yogurt, which is high in protein and good for your digestive system.

3. Pump up the Protein

Lean protein is low in fat, and it can make you feel full so you’ll lose weight quickly. Great sources include chicken and turkey breast.

You can also benefit from white, flaky fish like cod or halibut. These are also high in Omega-3 fatty acids, which can fight inflammation, cancer, and autoimmune disease. They can also help you ward off anxiety and depression.

Consider swapping out your creamy pasta dish or whole-wheat pasta with salmon. You’ll feel fuller faster and get the nutrients your body is really craving.

Healthy snacks like nuts, hard-boiled eggs, or turkey roll-ups are delicious and won’t pack on the pounds. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll shed the pounds once you start being proactive about your eating.

4. Move Around

An inactive lifestyle can make you more than just tired. It can also lead to hormonal imbalances, depression, heart disease, and other long-term effects.

If you’re not used to moving around during the day, start with a little walk around your office floor or home after each meal. Your job may require you to do a lot of work at a desk. Yet today, options like standing desks and office gyms make it possible to get a little activity even while your daily life requires sitting.

If you take the stairs instead of the elevator, you’ll burn .17 calories per step. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to shed some pounds by making a few simple changes to your lifestyle.

5. Don’t Drink Your Calories

Sugary drinks like fruit juice, hot cocoa, or sweetened iced tea can make you pack on the pounds without feeling full and may add to the belly fat. Opt for water, flavored seltzer, or unsweetened coffee instead.

6. Eat More Slowly

You may be tempted to eat quickly, especially if you have a busy life or a stressful job. The problem with this habit is that you may not realize that you are full, so you might take in more calories than your body needs.

Chewing more slowly can help you decrease your calorie intake. You’ll also produce more hormones that lead to weight loss.

7. Sleep Well

Research suggests sleep-deprived individuals are 55% more likely to become obese. Sleep deprivation can affect your body’s natural hormone control of your appetite. Moreover, the more sleep you get, the more health benefits your body gets.

If you want to shed some pounds, consider amping up your zzz’s. Make sure you have a relaxing nighttime routine, so you fall asleep fast and get between seven to nine hours of sleep each night.

8. Brush Your Teeth

Some folks have found brushing their teeth after meals can be helpful. It makes food taste unappetizing, and you’ll be less likely to reach for a snack.

9. Consider Body Sculpting or Liposuction

Some people who count their calories and work out still deal with stubborn areas. They change their sleeping and eating patterns but still don’t have the results they want. They may be good candidates for body sculpting.

These procedures are non-invasive and can take less than an hour from start to finish. It can lead to lasting comfort and an instantly improved body image.

Are You Desperate to Lose Weight Fast?

If you’re eager to shed a few extra pounds, consider a quick change in diet or sleep pattern. Other options, such as Vaser liposuction or body contouring, can offer an immediate change if you’re desperate to lose weight fast.

Liposuction Recovery Timeline: What to Expect Day 1 to 3 Months Post-Op

Liposuction, Weight Loss

With liposuction as one of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures post-pandemic, you might rush to seek immediate results and overlook some crucial aspects of its recovery.

You can be mesmerized by the fantastic body shape that liposuction can make you achieve, but are you prepared for what’s next?

Liposuction recovery can be challenging, and you should take time to consider your post-op recovery journey.

Surgical fat removal can be a great option, especially when diet and exercise fail to work for specific body areas, such as the belly, back, thighs, arms, or face. But it is essential to build realistic expectations and be prepared for your life after surgery.

Why Does Recovery Matter?

Recovery after surgery plays a significant role in the operation’s outcome. Unlike non-invasive cosmetic procedures and other fat loss treatments, the liposuction healing process can make a huge difference in achieving the desired goal.

How Long Does It Take to Heal from Liposuction?

The recovery process varies from person to person. It depends on the size of the treated area, your age, and general health.

Usually, recovery from liposuction takes between 4 to 6 weeks, but it can take up to 3 months to see full results.

Following your surgeon’s post-op advice together with rest and medication adherence will help you enhance your results and facilitate quicker healing.

Liposuction Recovery Timeline

A typical liposuction recovery timeline includes the following milestones:

  • Immediate post-surgery
  • Day 1
  • Week 1
  • Month 1
  • Month 3

Some post-liposuction tips, such as following aftercare instructions, will contribute to speeding up your recovery.

Immediately Post-surgery

After surgery, you should expect to feel some discomfort.

You will:

  • Feel mild to moderate pain
  • Notice some swelling and bruising
  • Be limited in your movements

Our staff at Premier Liposuction will look after your post-op needs until you are ready to go home. In most cases, after the procedure, you will need to rest and sleep for about one hour in our outpatient room.

Your plastic surgeons will give you take-home medications. You will have compression garments wrapped around the treated areas and elastic bandages to protect your wounds.

You will still feel the anesthetic effects, so you should ask a family member or a friend to drive you home.

Day 1

On day one, when you get home after surgery, make sure you have somebody to assist you around the house and run errands for you. You are likely to feel sleepy and may need to rest.

As the anesthetic wears off, you may feel more pain. Prescribed painkillers will help you get relief from symptoms. Ice packs and compression garments will help you cope with the swelling.

Wear compression garments at all times. Do not shower or bathe and follow your post-op therapy diligently. This is very important to avoid complications.

You might also see some fluid coming out of your wound. It is normal, so there is nothing to worry about.

Week 1

In the first week after liposuction, the treated area will still appear swollen and bruised, but you should start to feel a bit better. You might also feel ready to go back to work after a few days and get on with your daily activities.

A bit of movement and short strolls are encouraged if you are up for it, but you must avoid heavy lifting and intense exercise.

After the first two days, you must stand up and walk every 2-3 hours to avoid blood clots that can lead to severe complications.

You must also pay attention to cleaning and dressing your incision sites properly to lower the risk of infection and scarring.

Your follow up appointment

At the end of the first week after your liposuction procedure, you must attend your follow-up appointment.

Your doctor will check your wounds and make sure that the healing process is going well.

At this point, you can remove your garments to shower, but don’t take a bath or go swimming. Contact with water can increase the risk of infection.

Your doctor will advise you on how to proceed with your therapy and the level of physical activity that you can undertake.

First Month

During the first month, the pain usually reduces significantly, but you might still feel a bit of discomfort.

You can shower, do moderate physical activity, such as walking on a treadmill, brisk walks but avoid weightlifting unless your doctor gives you the green light.

Bruising and swelling after a few weeks are still expected, and you should keep monitoring your surgical sites and any lumps that might form.

You should start seeing some initial results from liposuction after 2 or 3 weeks if the bruising and swelling improve.

During recovery, you might feel low and have mood swings, but being patient is fundamental for liposuction post-op success. So don’t get discouraged and keep following your doctor’s advice.

First Three Months

At the end of the first-month post-surgery, you can stop using the compression garments and will notice that the treated area looks slimmer.

The liposuction results are now much more visible, although some bruising and swelling might last for a few months.

You should keep an eye on how the treated body part looks and make sure its appearance improves over time. Any persistent swelling, skin rash, or redness that gets worse after a month might be an indication of an infection.

After three months from your liposuction procedure, you will finally see the complete result. Correct and consistent aftercare is essential to achieving excellent body contouring.

Your Personal Recovery Timeline

The recovery timeline for the liposuction treatment can be quite long. You should always listen to your body and respect your individual healing process.

Knowing what happens after your surgical fat removal and understanding the recovery journey will help you to manage expectations and plan in advance for your liposuction.

Recovery is as vital as the procedure itself and is key to a successful liposuction outcome.

You can check our before and after gallery to see our patient success stories.

Ralph is a 46-year-old, Las Vegas local, and father of four. He, as many of us sometimes do, found himself at a low point. For the past six years, he found himself on a decline. He had let himself go both physically and mentally, formed unhealthy eating habits, and felt as though he was a shadow of a person.

After his wife of 21 years left him in December 2019, he knew he had to do something to get himself back on track.

At 268 pounds, Ralph was looking for something that would allow him to feel better right away and give him the push he needed to make a healthy lifestyle change. He wanted a change that would set him up for success in the future. It was then he turned to Premier Liposuction for help.

The Surgery

“The local anesthesia wears off quickly.

I walked out, drove home, and went to work the next day.”

At the end of January 2020, Ralph stepped into Premier Liposuction to get ready for his Vaser liposuction procedure, targeting the excess fat around his stomach and chin. “They don’t overcomplicate things”, Ralph explains about his experience the day of his procedure. “I didn’t feel a thing. They put on some nice music, and the prep was excellent.”

Ralph was out of his procedure in just a few hours, already feeling lighter and more trim. “The local anesthesia wears off quickly. I walked out, drove home, and went to work the next day. The recovery has an excellent pace to it.” Ralph notes.

The Recovery

As with any surgery, recovery is an important part of the process. Ralph was prepared to see changes in his body happening over the next several months as it adjusts and settles in. He took it easy during the first couple of weeks, then started going on walks to get his body used to the movement. After four months he started working out regularly.

Ralph cut out all fast food and started incorporating a healthier diet into his daily routine. “I have smoothies in the morning, and dinner before 6 pm. I’m not counting calories, but am watching what I eat.” Ralph explains.

“You need to be committed to your change. You’ve gotta make this decision for yourself, not for anyone else.”

The Life-changing Results

After five and a half months had passed, Ralph had lost 62 pounds. The combination of Vaser liposuction targeting his stomach and chin, working out regularly, and eating a healthy, well-balanced diet had accelerated his weight loss. Altogether, it completely transformed Ralph in more ways than one.

He went from wearing size XXL t-shirts to size medium, and from a size 50 pants to a size 36—and still finds that he needs to wear a belt. “I’m getting hit on more at 46 than I did in my 20s!” Ralph says. “My whole wardrobe is gone!”

For Ralph, liposuction motivated him to believe he could accomplish his self-goal of living a healthier lifestyle. He had a purpose to pursue liposuction and believes that someone must commit to the betterment of themselves if they want to see the results they are looking for.

When asking Ralph about the advice he would give someone also interested in liposuction, he said “You need to be committed to your change. You’ve gotta make this decision for yourself, not for anyone else.”

After a life-changing year for Ralph, he has finally put himself first and found his own self-worth. “Everyone has a bad season in life, and I’m worth a lot more than what I believed I was before. This procedure has helped me see my own value.”

9 Common VASER Liposuction Misconceptions

Liposuction, Liposuction for Men, Weight Loss

How much do you know about Vaser liposuction? When faced with the truth, many patients discover they have a lot of Vaser liposuction misconceptions. Anyone considering it should know exactly what it entails.

Here are nine of the most common Vaser liposuction myths out there.

1. Vaser Lipo Is Dangerous

Every kind of surgery carries some risk. But while many believe that liposuction can be dangerous, VASER liposuction procedures have actually become very sophisticated and reliable.

When performed by a knowledgeable and board-certified plastic surgeon and liposuction doctors, liposuction can be as safe and effective as any other surgical treatment. As long as the patient follows the supportive post-surgical instructions too.

2. The Procedure Is Painful

Typically, you will be awake during a VASER liposuction procedure. You may feel a bit of pressure initially, but the procedure is minimally-invasive and virtually painless. In terms of discomfort after, you’ll feel a little bit of muscle soreness for 24-48 hours, and much less swelling and bruising than alternative fat removal procedures.  The level of pain a person experiences post-procedure can depend on overall health, areas treated, and the technical skill of your surgeon.

3. It Isn’t Affordable

Like any elective aesthetic procedure, it’s hard to find the balance between expertise, quality, and price. People throughout forums suggest choosing a practice that specializes in fat removal procedures as they provide great results and tend to be more affordable than practices that offer a suite of services. According to Healthline, and RealSelf, the average cost of VASER liposuction is around $6,500.

4. Weight Loss Treatment

One of the more common Vaser liposuction misconceptions, patients believe liposuction will help them lose weight. However, this isn’t true. In fact, it’s recommended that you have a BMI (Body Mass Index) under 30 to move forward with the procedure. If you want to lose weight, healthy dieting and exercise are the way forward.

Click here to check your BMI with a calculator provided by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

Instead, liposuction is a body contouring surgery that works to remove stubborn fat still visible once you’ve lost weight. Liposuction removes fat pockets in spots like the abdomen, thighs, neck, chin, and ankles.

VASER liposuction removes fat from parts of the body difficult to treat. This includes the back and flanks, under the chin, and when treating gynecomastia.

The removed fat is often resistant to dieting and exercise and is hard to eliminate without surgical help.

In reality, most patients only lose around two to five pounds of weight in total. The most suitable candidates for liposuction are usually within 30 percent of a healthy weight range and have fat deposits they’d like gone. Liposuction is designed to streamline and contour localized areas. In the best case, this is for someone within a healthy weight range.

Liposuction only removes subcutaneous fat, another type of fat found below the skin and above the muscle. For example, an abdomen that sticks out due to fat sitting under the muscle and around the internal muscles will not be removed with liposuction.

This type of fat is known as visceral or intra-abdominal fat, and it can’t be eliminated with liposuction. Exercise and dieting is the only way to reduce visceral fat.

Maintaining ideal postsurgical results includes a strong commitment to a healthy lifestyle such as eating well and exercising.

5. Only One Type of Liposuction

Another Vaser liposuction misconception often surrounds whether or not there are a variety of liposuction methods, each of which removes fat differently.

VASER liposuction is a variation of ultrasound-assisted lipo. It works to eliminate fat from hard to treat areas, such as the back and flanks, under the chin, and when treating gynecomastia.

A few common types of liposuction include Laser, Wet, Super-Wet, and Tumescent liposuction, which safely removes fat from almost all easier to treat parts of the body.

6. Long Recovery Period

Many patients worry about the length of the VASER lipo recovery period. However, most people find the recovery and pain aren’t as bad as they thought.

Pain is usually minimal and most patients return to most of their normal activities or work in as little as 48 hours or three to seven days. While the healing process varies from person to person, most people should plan to take at least a week off to rest and recover.

During recovery, you’ll need to wear a compression garment for a few weeks to help you heal. Any other cosmetic procedures you may have will affect your recovery time and experience. Your surgeon will talk you through this and will offer advice to help you manage your pain following the procedure.

The most common after-effects include swelling, bruising, and soreness around the areas of treatment, which are nothing to be concerned about.

It may take between four to six weeks for you to begin exercising again or undertaking strenuous activity.

7. It’s Just for Women

Most people think of liposuction as a procedure for women, but it’s a great option for both men and women alike.

VASER liposuction can also be a great solution for men that regularly work out at the gym but haven’t been able to achieve the chiseled abs they would like. It can also be used to treat gynecomastia, otherwise known as male breast enlargement.

8. Liposuction Isn’t for Older People

Many people also believe VASER isn’t suitable for older people. However, any healthy patient that has had a positive medical examination can proceed safely with liposuction.

Please note, however, a lack of firmness and elasticity may affect the skin’s capability of re-draping over the newly slimmed and reshaped contours offered after liposuction.

Poor skin quality is one of the biggest challenges of liposuction treatment.

9. Treats Cellulite

Cellulite isn’t just an irregular deposit of fat. Subcutaneous fat pushes connective tissue bands under the skin to create cellulite. That’s how those distinct dimples and bumps are formed.

VASER liposuction can only remove the fleshy, fatty tissue, and cannot change the connecting bands that lead to cellulite.

Liposuction for Weight Loss is a Myth: But Here Are the Benefits

Fat Transfer, Liposuction, Weight Loss

Getting liposuction for weight loss is one of the most common reasons people seek it out. Liposuction for weight loss is a myth but here are five major reasons to get lipo.

After dressing to impress, you look in the mirror for a final assessment. You love your hair, your makeup, and your dress. But your stomach is an eyesore to you, and you wish you could do something about it.

Fortunately, liposuction for weight loss may be all you need to achieve the stomach you want. In fact, nearly 260,000 people throughout the United States opted for liposuction in 2018 to accomplish their aesthetic aims that.

Before Considering Liposuction for Weight Loss

  • Liposuction is an aesthetic procedure, targeting hard-to-get-rid-of areas and serving as a route to define or shape your body the way you want it.
  • Liposuction is not typically considered an overall weight-loss method or a weight loss alternative.
  • By law, cosmetic surgeons are only allowed to remove 5.5 liters of fat. If your doctor says otherwise, we strongly suggest you seek a second opinion.
  • If you are overweight, you’re likely to lose more weight through exercise and diet or through bariatric procedures like gastric bypass surgery.

Still not sure if liposuction is for you? Here are five major reasons to get lipo.

Let’s jump in!

1. Increase Your Confidence

One of the biggest reasons to get liposuction is to boost your self-confidence.

You may be dealing with stubborn fat pockets, even after already losing a significant amount of weight. This can no doubt be embarrassing. In fact, you may even feel that all of the effort you put into losing your weight was in vain.

Fortunately, with liposuction, you can finally feel sexy, attractive, and confident. In fact, you may also experience more energy following your surgery.

In addition, once you undergo liposuction, other people can see your body’s natural beauty. They’ll also see that you have indeed made some responsible and praiseworthy lifestyle choices.

After undergoing liposuction, you’ll likely be able to tell a huge difference in how your clothing fits. Both you and other people will no longer see the aggravating bulges you have had to put up with for years.

In addition, you may notice a loss in inches. This means you’ll have many more options while shopping for swimsuits and other clothes. You’ll be proud to show off the new shape of your body.

All in all, lipo is an effective and safe procedure for achieving your unique body image objectives. It’s better than diet fads that may end up wreaking havoc on your body.

2. Enhance Your Health

Another reason to choose liposuction is that it can decrease the fat cells, or triglycerides, in your blood.

Your body produces these cells naturally. However, having too many of these cells can increase your heart disease risk. So, by removing these cells through liposuction, you immediately increase your heart health.

Note, though, that after lipo removes your fat cells in an area, new fat cells may return to that area. For this reason, it is critical that you continue to exercise and eat a proper diet following your procedure.

The reality is, your body becomes accustomed to your normal routine each day. For instance, it becomes used to sitting behind a computer screen at work, or lounging on the couch at night.

However, by keeping your body in a constant state of activity following your lipo treatment, you can keep new fat cells from forming. And as a result, you can maintain the healthy body you want long term.

3. Get Rid of Trouble Spots Quickly

Liposuction won’t remove fat from all parts of the body. However, it can come in handy for treating specific parts of your body.

What’s great about lipo is that it can easily target stubborn fat in your stomach, back, upper arms, and thighs. You can also use liposuction to treat the area beneath your chin.

In today’s hectic world, you may find it difficult to achieve your dream look in a section of your body right away. After all, even if a person eats right and works out in the gym each day, it may take them years to achieve their weight goals.

However, lipo can instantly deliver to you the results you want.

What makes liposuction stand out is that recovering from this procedure is relatively simple. As a result, it is not only quick but also safe. Recovering from lipo treatment in a large area may take about two weeks, whereas it may take just a handful of days for a small area.

4. Stimulate Collagen Growth

The latest laser-based lipo techniques also have the potential to stimulate collagen growth in your body.

The benefit of collagen, a protein, is that it keeps your skin wrinkle-free and firm. Your body naturally generates this protein, but as you get older, the production of collagen starts to slow down. As a result, you develop sagging skin and wrinkles.

However, laser-based liposuction enables you to enjoy more youthful-looking skin, along with a younger-looking body.

5. Give Your Body a New Shape

Yet another reason to choose liposuction is that it helps with reshaping your body. Not only can you have fat removed, but you can also have your fat transferred to another area of the body. The most common transfers are those to the buttocks or breasts, serving as a more natural solution than foreign implants.

Let’s say your body is at its ideal weight. You still might not be happy with your body’s figure. For example, you might be carrying too much weight in the hips or upper arms.

Since you’re already at the ideal weight for your body, there’s no way you can eliminate this fat yourself. However, liposuction lets you achieve a body that is more proportionate without weight loss or an unhealthy diet.
