Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer vs. Implants

Body Contouring
Breast Augmentation

Do you want larger, more rounded breasts? This is a common aesthetic goal for many women, which is why breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the world. Breast augmentation can increase the size of your breasts while improving their overall shape.

Premier Liposuction in Las Vegas, NV, provides fat transfer breast augmentation for clients who want a bigger, fuller bust. Read on to learn more about breast augmentation with fat transfer and how it can help transform your figure.

What Is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that aims to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. Also known as a boob job, breast augmentation increases the volume of the breasts to give them a larger, fuller shape. This can be achieved with fat transfer, silicone implants, or saline implants.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Fat transfer breast augmentation uses the patient’s own fat to add volume to the breasts. A surgeon uses liposuction to collect fat from other areas of concern on the body, including the stomach, back, thighs, buttocks, or upper arms. This fat is then purified and injected into the breasts to increase their size and improve their shape.

Breast Augmentation with Implants

Breast augmentation with implants uses either silicone or saline implants to add volume to the breasts. Silicone implants are gel-filled with a silicone shell. These implants have a more natural look and feel than their saline counterparts. Silicone implants are placed under the skin as is, either above or beneath the pectoral muscle.

Saline implants are saline-filled with a silicone shell. They look less natural in shape and have a firmer feeling than silicone implants. Saline implants are inserted under the skin as an empty shell and the saline solution is added after the implant is in place. They sit below the pectoral muscle.

Which Type of Breast Augmentation Is Right for You?

With various types of breast augmentation, many patients have a hard time determining which procedure is best for them. The ideal breast augmentation surgery for you will depend on several factors.

The first factor is your desired outcome. How natural do you want your new breasts to look? For patients concerned with obtaining a natural-looking bustline, fat transfer may be the best option. Silicone implants are a good option for patients who want a natural look and feel, but with a rounder shape.

Another factor that can impact which type of augmentation you have is placement. If your implants must be placed beneath the pectoral muscles, you may opt for saline implants. Saline is also a good choice for clients concerned with potential ruptures, as the saline gel can be naturally absorbed by the body.

Meeting with a plastic surgeon and discussing your desired outcome will help confirm which type of breast augmentation will suit you best. The team at Premier Liposuction will assess your current breast structure and go over any concerns you may have to determine which type of augmentation is the best fit for you.

Ideal Candidates for Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Premier Liposuction provides breast augmentation with fat transfer for patients who meet certain criteria. To be an ideal candidate for fat transfer breast augmentation, you must be at least 18 years old with fully developed breasts. Your natural breasts may be small, sagging, flattened, or elongated in appearance.

To have fat transfer breast augmentation, you must have an adequate amount of fat in another area of your body. For most patients, this includes the stomach, thighs, arms, back, or buttocks.

Ideal candidates will have good health overall. Those with underlying conditions and serious medical concerns may not be able to have breast augmentation because it is performed under general anesthesia.

How Is Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer Performed?

Breast augmentation with fat transfer is performed under general anesthesia. In some cases, the volume of fat being transferred is very small and the procedure can be performed under local anesthesia.

Once you’re under anesthesia, small incisions are made in the area where fat is being harvested. A thin cannula, or tube, is inserted through these incisions to gently suction out the fat. This fat is then purified and prepared for transfer.

At this point, the purified fat is carefully injected into the breasts in various places to create a fuller, more rounded appearance. The entire breast augmentation with fat transfer procedure can take anywhere from two to four hours to complete, depending on each patient’s unique circumstances.

Once your surgery is finished, you may need to remain overnight in our plastic surgery aftercare center for monitoring. Some patients can return home the same day as their treatment.

For about four weeks, you will need to avoid sleeping on your stomach or any activity that places direct pressure on the breasts. Strenuous exercise and sexual activity should be avoided for at least two weeks after your surgery.

Around four to six weeks after surgery, you can gradually begin participating in your normal activity again. At this point, the tissues will begin to settle into their new position and most patients will see the outcome of their surgery.
